Children’s Lesson 4

WHY TEAMWORK?

Psalms 133:1 It is good and pleasant when God’s people live together in peace!

We have talked about teamwork several times.

T- Together

E- Each one of us

A- Accomplishes

M- More than we could ever do on our own.

Team – the T stands for together. God’s plan is for us to work together to accomplish great things for HIM.

Jesus himself had a team. They were called disciples. There were twelve of them.

In the Bible in Matthew 4:18-22 we read: Jesus was walking by Lake Galilee. He saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and Simon’s brother Andrew. The brothers were fishermen, and they were fishing in the lake with a net. Jesus said, “Come follow me. I will make you fishermen for men.” At once Simon and Andrew left their nets and followed him. Jesus continued walking by Lake Galilee. He saw two other brothers, James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets to catch fish. Jesus told them to come with him. At once they left the boat and their father, and they followed Jesus.

Even Jesus used a team to change the world. Today this is still the plan of God. The Lord is the coach, and he is putting us through training so that we can learn to become an unbeatable team. But many of us still don’t want to be a team player. If you want to accomplish anything for the Lord, you need to be a part of the team (the church).

Jesus showed us how we are to build teams and how to work on a team. The book of Acts tells us how God uses teamwork to spread the Good News of Jesus. He does this by using different people at different places on His teams.

And Jesus never sent anyone out all alone, they always had a friend to go with them.

Let me tell you – there is something for you to do on Jesus’ team. Are you willing to work with all your heart for the Lord?
