I’VE JOINED GOD’S TEAM
When we become a part of Gods’ Team, the Bible tells us that we are “In Christ.” What does it mean to be in Christ? The moment you took Christ as your Savior, God put you in Christ. You will always be in Christ. That is the way God will always see you—in Christ. How wonderful!
To be in Christ means to share in all that Christ did and all that He is today. To be in Christ means that we have a new “position” before God. We are loved and accepted by God because we are in Christ.
God wants every believer to know that he is in Christ. Here are some advantages that you should know about being –in Christ.
You are forgiven.
Because you are in Christ, God has forgiven you of every sin. The Bible says, “In whom [in Christ] we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:14).
You become closer to God.
As a sinner, you were separated from God and could not come into His presence. But now in Christ Jesus, you can go boldly into God’s presence because the blood of His Son Jesus Christ has cleansed you from all sin. The Bible says, “But now in Christ Jesus, you who sometimes were far off are made near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13.
You are redeemed.
To redeem something means to pay the price to get it back. Because of Adam’s disobedience, we were separated from God. But Christ has redeemed us. He has “repurchased us.” Now we belong to Him, the One who redeemed us. The Bible says, “In whom [in Christ] we have redemption through His blood….” Ephesians 1:7. Christ had to pay a high price to redeem us. What was the price He paid for us? The price was His precious blood. He died on the cross to get us back. The Bible says, “…You were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, but with the precious blood of Christ….” 1 Peter 1:18-19.
You are accepted.
We like to be accepted by our friends and others, but being accepted by God is the most critical acceptance of all.
The moment you received the Lord Jesus as your Savior, you were accepted by God. Why does God accept you? Because you are in Christ!
The Bible says, “To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He has made us accepted in the Beloved [in Christ].” Ephesians 1:6.
Christ is “the Beloved,” God’s dearly loved Son. You are accepted in Christ. What does it mean to be “accepted in Christ”? It means that God loves you and accepts you in the same way that He loves and accepts His own beloved Son. You are “accepted in His beloved Son.”
This is a picture of what God has done for us. We were once in Adam. We had no hope and no future. But one day, we took the Lord Jesus as our Savior, and everything changed. We are now accepted entirely by God. Why does God accept us? We are accepted because now we belong to Christ. God has made us “accepted in the Beloved.”
You have a new position.
Your “position” is the way God sees you in Christ. Before you took Christ as your Savior, God saw us as being on another team. That was your old position. Now you have a new place in God’s sight. God now sees you in Christ. He loves and accepts you the way you are.
Can you lose your position in Christ? No, no one can take you off Gods’ team. You can never lose your place in Christ, but there is something you can lose. You can lose the enjoyment of your position in Christ. If you disobey God and keep doing things that displease Him, you will lose your joy and will no longer want to be on Gods’ team.
You have a new life.
No matter what you have done or how you have acted, God gave you a new life when you accepted Jesus. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Isn’t that wonderful? All the old sinful things that you had done are gone away, and now God sees you as shiny and brand new! The ugly old cross turns everything beautiful in your life. Being in Christ has many other great rewards that we will come to know as we mature and continue to be apart of His team.
