Weekly Lesson 32

BEING A WISE TEAMMATE

To be a Wise Teammate, we must learn God’s game plan. But other things must be done if we want to have wisdom. Below are three things we can do to help us on our journey to be a wise teammate.

Jeremiah 29:13, You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

HAVE A HEART THAT SEEKS WISDOM
To acquire wisdom requires us to desire it more than anything else and then do what is necessary to obtain it. Wisdom is not free; it will require a lifetime of service. Because it is highest among the qualities you can achieve, it will not come easy, nor does it happen automatically. You cannot become wise by accident. You must search after wisdom as if you were searching for silver or gold. To be a wise teammate, you must know the rules. God’s game plan for your life can only be found in the Bible.

As in other lessons we have had, we are again reminded to read God’s Word every day. That is where we will find TRUE WISDOM.

MAKE WISE CHOICES
Second, you must make the right choices when you know something to be correct. Being wise and knowing the right thing to do means nothing if we do not make the right choice to obey. We must discover what we believe to be true and hold firm to those beliefs. Making the right choice in the little things helps us to make the right choice when we face bigger problems. Your teammates depend on you.

We all can make wise choices. It helps if we have several days to think about it. But life usually does not work that way, especially for the young. We have to make quick decisions every day about what we will wear, where we will go, who we will go with, what jokes we will tell, what music we will listen to, what movies we will watch, and whether or not to will stand up for your faith. Be a good teammate and make smart choices.

LEARN BY THE EXPERIENCE AND COUNSEL OF OTHERS
The answers to the questions and problems of life are answered by having a secure relationship with God. A wise man once said, Wise counselors know the God of the Bible, and they know the Bible of God”. The Bible’s profound teachings should cause us to face and solve problems in the wisest way.

Proverbs 8:14 teaches that wise counselors are those who know both the Lord and His Word. “Counsel is mine and sound wisdom; I am understanding, power is mine.”

Proverbs 12:15 tells us that having listening skills and understanding are a must to both those who give and receive counsel. “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man is he who listens to counsel.”

God speaks of being wise and having wisdom in the Bible book of Proverbs more than anywhere else. The man who wrote most of the Proverbs was King Solomon. He is known to be the wisest man that has ever lived. You cannot think of anyone better to give you better counsel. So, try this: Proverbs has 31 chapters. Most months have 31 days. Start reading a Proverb chapter every day according to what day of the month it is. For instance, If it is the 20th day of the month, read the 20th chapter of Proverbs. If you do this, you will have the wisest counsel that anyone could have.
